The village of Severny was founded on lands that previously belonged to the Counts Medem. In the 1870s, these lands were acquired by Count Otto Ludwigovich Medem along with his wife Alexandra Dmitrievna Naryshkina from merchant Shikobalov. The farm they established was named in honor of Alexandra. Otto Ludwigovich rarely visited the estate due to his government service, but his eldest son Alexander took over management and made the estate one of the most successful in the area. In 1900, Alexander married Maria Fedorovna Chertkova, whose mother was Princess Obolenskaya. They had children: Fyodor, Sofia, Elena, and Alexandra. During her pregnancy, Maria contracted cholera, and the medications affected Elena's health. The girl could not move or speak, expressing her desires only through facial expressions and emotions. Her parents tried to help her, even taking her to Switzerland, but when it became clear that treatment would not help, Alexander decided to build a church on the estate.

In 1910, on the shore of an artificial lake, near an oak alley, a church in the Novgorod style was erected, dedicated to the Equal-to-the-Apostles Tsar Constantine and Tsarina Helena. The icons for the iconostasis were created by artists Vladimir Komarovsky and Dmitry Stelletsky. The church was affiliated with the Epiphany Church of the village of Chyorny Zaton, where Alexander's son Fyodor was baptized. Services were conducted by priest Alexander Frolov.

In 1918, the estate was looted and nationalized. The church was repurposed and heavily remodeled: the dome was demolished, the altar and buttresses were destroyed, old windows were bricked up and new ones were cut, and partitions appeared inside. Despite this, the church has survived.

In October 2002, Alexander Medem's granddaughter, Olga Fedorovna Lilienfeld-Toal, came to the village of Severny, after which it was decided to restore the church.

By 2004, a priest from a neighboring village, Father Vitaly Kolpachenko, began conducting services in the church.

On November 11, 2007, the church was consecrated by the priestly order with the blessing of Bishop Longin of Saratov and Volsk.
