Vasilkovo, a village located in the Bor district, is now part of the city district of Bora. According to the "Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese" from 1904, a stone church was built here in 1829. The main altar of the church was consecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, the right chapel was dedicated to St. Alexius, the Man of God, and the left to St. Vladimir, the Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince. By 1904, the parish of the Vasilkovo church included five villages. Among the parishioners were 239 Orthodox men and 249 women, as well as 439 men and 458 schismatic women. A church parish school operated in the village.

In 1938, the church in Vasilkovo was closed, but the school continued to operate as a primary school until 2007.
