The Russian village of Truyevaya Maza likely got its name from the landowner Truyev and was founded in the late 18th century north of the trade route from Volsk through Cherkasskoye to Kuznetsk. The valley of the Maza River historically served as a residence for Old Believers. The largest community in Truyevaya Maza was the Pomors, and there were also Beglopopovtsy and chapel keepers living here. The first Orthodox church, built by the efforts of parishioners in 1856, was wooden with a bell tower and was consecrated in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The church clergy included a priest and a psalmist, for whom public houses were built.

In 1874, a literacy school for boys opened in the church watchman's house, funded by parish patronage, the Diocesan School Council, and private donors. In the late 1880s, the parish priest Ivan Mramornov and his son Dmitry, who graduated from the Volsk Teacher's Seminary as a rural teacher, taught at the school. The Orthodox residents of Truyevaya Maza sought to open a zemstvo school, but the Old Believers, who made up a significant part of the population, did not support this initiative and continued to educate children privately.

The church was eventually closed, its building lost its bell tower and was used as a grain storage facility, and then it was destroyed. In 1930, the priest and a member of the church council were repressed.
