The parish dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the Rozhentsevsky settlement was founded in 1872. It included 15 villages located within a radius of 7 versts from the village of Rozhentsevo. Initially, a small wooden church was built, consecrated on April 1, 1872, where services were held until December 9, 1893.

In 1893, a massive stone Kazan-Bogorodsky temple was constructed. The building with a bell tower, made of stone and covered with iron, was sturdy. The artistic painting of the church involved Vasily Timofeevich Novoselov, a resident of the village of Malye Kilemary. The church staff included two priests, a deacon, two psalmists, and a prosphora maker. The first rector was Priest Vasily Alexandrovich Diakonov.

The church had 5 desyatinas and 480 square sazhen of estate land along with the churchyard, 43 desyatinas of arable land, 4 desyatinas of haymaking land, and 4 desyatinas and 1920 square sazhen of land for the cemetery, roads, and unusable plots. In total, there were 57 desyatinas of land located near the church. The church servants lived in six wooden houses built by the parishioners.

The church-parish guardianship owned a wooden barn and two stone shops with an iron roof on church land, while on peasant land, near the church square, there was a hexagonal two-story wooden house that housed the district primary school for free. There was also a church library with 172 volumes of books. The parish included 22 villages at a distance of 2 to 12 versts.

In 1930, a fire occurred in the church during the winter Nikola: the watchman, weaving bast shoes and heating the iron stove, caused the bell tower to ignite. The huge bell fell, breaking through the ceiling. During the Great Patriotic War, the church building was used as a grain warehouse, but services continued on the porch.

In 1946, the premises were returned to the church. In 1963, the church was electrified, and in 1987, its roof and domes were covered with galvanized iron.
