The church in the village of Romashkino was built in 1836 thanks to the efforts of the patron Vasily Fyodorovich Shestakov. The first service took place on November 4, the day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, which became the village's patronal feast. The church, constructed of wood by local craftsmen, had one dome and was spacious enough to accommodate not only the residents of Romashkino but also those from neighboring villages.
At the initiative of Priest Rozhdestvensky, a church parish school was opened in the village. One of the priests was Father Polychrony, known for his education. For his participation in the Crimean War, he received a commemorative cross and wrote several books on the spirituality of the Russian people. His sons, Irinarkh and Nikolai, became renowned doctors, whose names are included in the medical encyclopedia. Father Polychrony served in Romashkino for 9 years.
At the end of 1933, the villagers decided to close the church and convert it into a school. In the spring of 1934, the bells and dome were removed from the church. During the war, the building housed an orphanage, but in April 1945, it burned down. Now, on the site of the church stands a school, and a cross, funded by a former resident of Romashkino, serves as a reminder of its existence.
