The Novoorsk Cossack village was founded in 1835 at the initiative of Orenburg Governor Vasily Alexeyevich Perovsky. A new border line was created from Orsk to Troitsk to protect the southeastern borders of the Russian Empire from nomads. During the expedition, a detachment of Cossacks led by Lieutenant Anton Apollonovich Zhemchuzhnikov chose locations for the construction of fortresses-villages. Fortresses Novoozernaya, Novoorskaya, Imperatorskaya, Naslednitskaya, Nikolayevskaya, and Troitskaya were established within a hundred versts. It was expected that the residents of the new line would also be its defenders, and the most suitable for this role were the Cossacks, who had fought with nomads on the border for centuries. In each settlement, along with houses, a church was built to strengthen the spirituality of the residents. A church was also built in Novoorsk. In 1859, the construction of a new temple began, which was consecrated on October 23, 1860, in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. According to archival data, the church was built on donations from parishioners, was wooden, covered with iron, and could accommodate about 300 people. It is known that around 1896, the rector of the church and the religious instructor of two schools was Priest Vitaly Leporizhsky, who graduated from the Orenburg Theological Seminary. At that time, Deacon Tikhon Fedotov served in the church. There is no information about other clergy. From 1937 to 1939, the church was closed, like many others in Russia. Since 1946, a club began operating in the partially destroyed church building, where the bell tower and the central part with domes were demolished. In 1967, the remaining walls of the church were dismantled and transported to the Novoorsk Agricultural Production Cooperative, where a building was constructed next to PU-71. In the old park, where the church stood, there was a dance floor. In 2001, a project for the park's reconstruction was developed based on photographs of the church. Near the site where the church is planned to be built, a small wooden church was constructed. On July 15, 2006, the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God church was consecrated by Metropolitan Valentin of Orenburg and Buzuluk. In the autumn of 2006, a gas boiler house was built. Next to the wooden church, in the autumn of 2008, the foundation for the bell tower was laid, where the first and second floors will be allocated for classes for the Sunday school. In the summer of 2009, the refectory was expanded and renovated. From November 1, 2009, Sunday school classes for children began in the refectory, and since October 25, 2010, the Orthodox military-patriotic club 'Russian Bogatyrs' has been operating. Since the autumn of 2010, classes for adults in the Sunday school have been conducted by Hieromonk Ambrosiy Alentov. The library at the church, which has been operating since 2005, has 1,000 books and 103 discs and tapes. Fourteen people are studying in the adult Sunday school: seven in the first year and seven in the second. By the decree of Bishop Iriney of Orenburg and Gai, Hieromonk Pavel Chuyeshkov was appointed rector of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God church in Novoorsk on May 17, 2012.
