The laying of the church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Lukino took place on December 30, 2010. The laying ceremony was conducted by Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas. Previously, there was a wooden church in Lukino, which was destroyed during the Soviet era.

The Kazan church was built in honor of the 400th anniversary of the feat of the Nizhny Novgorod militia of 1612 and in memory of its main shrine.

Currently, the church has two rows of the iconostasis: a local one with inserted icons and a festive one, which is still without icons. The icons for the festive row are in the process of being painted. All icons will be made in the style of the Vladimir school of icon painting. The installation of the remaining rows of the iconostasis is planned in the near future. All external and internal finishing works have already been completed.
