Kazan Icon of the Mother of God Church in Kochkarlee

Фото 1
In 1898, a wooden prayer house with an altar dedicated to the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was built. It was an Orthodox parish church with two altars. In 1904, a new red brick church was constructed in the village, built with the efforts of all the residents. Each family was required to contribute a certain number of eggs, the whites of which were used to prepare the mortar needed for laying the walls. The church turned out to be remarkably beautiful. Next to it, a house for the church servants was built: a priest, a psalmist, and a deacon. In this semi-ruined building, the plasterwork on the ceilings has still been preserved, although during the Soviet era it housed a primary school and a village shop.
