The village of Kabanovka was founded in the first half of the 19th century by settlers from the Kursk and Tambov provinces. The first significant structure here was the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God Church, built in 1851 with funds from the parishioners. In 1893, a building was added to the church, where a church school was opened.

In 1917, the church parish school ceased its operations. In 1929, the church itself was closed, and the last priest, Alexander Ivanovich Gidaspov, born in 1873, was forced to renounce his clerical status. He moved to Sergievsk, where he was arrested and shot in Kuibyshev on November 27, 1937.

After the church was closed, there were plans to open a club in it, but parents did not allow their children to attend, considering it sinful. Ultimately, it was turned into a storage facility for the collective farm 'Memory of Lenin.' In 1935, the church was demolished.

In May 2001, the establishment of a new church in Kabanovka began in a repurposed building. On July 2, 2001, a dome painted by local artist Grigory Petrov was installed. The first service in the new church took place on November 4, 2002, in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.

The modern church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God was completed in 2010. Its construction began in 2008 with the delivery of logs. Before this, services were held in the old building adapted for worship.

Before the revolution, there was a wooden church in Kabanovka, and it is symbolic that the new church is also made of wood. Despite its small size, it is quite spacious and meets the needs of the village.

The church is equipped with natural gas heating, ensuring warmth and comfort even in the harshest frosts.
