The Kazan Church is a subsidiary temple where services are held three times a year during the Velikoretsky Cross Procession. Since 1999, with the blessing of Bishop Chrisanth, a "small" Cross Procession has been officially held on July 21, occurring twice a year, as the feast of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is celebrated on July 21 and November 4. In summer, pilgrims walk from the junction of the roads Yury and Gorokhovo, and in autumn, from the junction of Yury and Savatenki to the ruined church in the village of Gorokhovo in the Yuryansky district.

In 1845, a stone church was built in Gorokhovo to replace the cold wooden church. The wooden church was moved to the village of Berezovo, where it burned down after 14 years. In 1908, the warm side chapel was expanded and rebuilt due to overcrowding. In 1937, the church was closed due to a conflict between the local priest and the authorities, as the priest did not allow a school to be built next to the temple. Bolsheviks from Syktyvkar arrived, removed the crosses from the domes, burned the icons, and began constructing a school.

In the 1960s, when it was decided to build a farm in the neighboring village of Marakulevshina, bricks were needed, and it was decided to blow up the church. However, to avoid damaging the school, only the far wall of the refectory was blown up, while the wall closer to the school was dismantled manually. Eyewitnesses claim that the walls of the bell tower and the cold church could not even be affected by jackhammers.

Attempts were made to topple the bell tower with tractors, tying it with cables and attaching it to tracked vehicles. The bell tower swayed but remained standing. After that, the dismantling was halted, and the church was turned into a fertilizer storage.

Local residents say that the person who removed the crosses soon died, and the school burned down. In the 1980s, the village disappeared, as did Marakulevshina, where only the farm made of church bricks remained.

In 1995, pilgrims of the Velikoretsky Cross Procession first cleared the church of debris and fertilizer remnants. After that, groups of enthusiasts began to arrive in Gorokhovo for cleaning. Soon, a novice named Andrey appeared with like-minded individuals. Last year, he gathered the parish and received the bishop's blessing to restore the church. The parish has already begun restoration work and is collecting donations and building materials.
