In 1911, the village of Gorevo received the status of a selo due to the opening of a church on the northern outskirts. Although the church could have been built in larger villages like Maza or Talitsa, where it would have looked more impressive, the locals did not want to allocate cultivated land for construction. As a result, the church was erected on a wasteland in Gorevo. A church parish school with four classes opened, and classes were held in the priest's house.

With the advent of Soviet power, the church building was repurposed for processing flax and storing flax waste. In 1959, it was converted into a school, adding a second floor, with only the altar part remaining unchanged.

In 1976, the temple completely burned down.

By the blessing of Archbishop Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas, and priest Gennady Yogozov, the construction of a new wooden church began, completed in the summer of 2009. Bells were cast for the bell tower, a rectory was built nearby, and the territory was enclosed with a church fence. S. V. Kozyrev, the head of the Gorky Railway, participated in the construction. On September 19, 2009, Archbishop Georgy held a thanksgiving service to mark the completion of the construction work. The temple is currently being prepared for the Great Consecration.
