Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in Dimitrovgrad

Фото 1
In 1879, when Melekess received the status of a town, a church dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker was built and consecrated in the main Bread Square. The church operated until 1935, after which it was closed and demolished two years later. A small park with a dance floor and attractions was arranged on the site of the church. In 2000, the first wooden chapel in honor of Nicholas the Wonderworker was erected at this location, which was replaced in 2002 by a wooden Kazan church. Currently, the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God is located on the grounds of the new Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior, so services are held there irregularly.
