Butakovo, a village in the Voznesensky district, is home to a monument of urban planning and architecture, the Kazan Church. It is officially dated to 1809 and is under state protection according to document No. 471. However, according to local historian Vladimir Bakunin, the church was built in 1804 by I.F. Nikiforov. Nearby, the gravestone of his wife, Natalia Vasilyevna Nikiforova, who died in 1802, has been preserved. The church features a two-bell porch. In the Nizhny Novgorod region, similar architecture can be found at the Pokrov Church in the village of Borisovo-Pokrovskoye in the Dalnekonstantinovsky district and at the Znamenskaya Church in the Fedotovo area of the Pervomaysky district, where one of the bell towers was dismantled.
