Фото 1
Bolshoye Sushchevo, known until 1631 as the wasteland of Rozderikha, was granted by Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich Romanov to the nobleman and military man S.F. Sushchev. One of his descendants, M.N. Sushchev, maintained a friendship with the famous composer from Nizhny Novgorod, M.A. Balakirev, who visited him several times. The "State Lists of Historical and Cultural Monuments of the Nizhny Novgorod Region" indicates that the village had an architectural monument, the Kazan Church, built in 1751. It was closed in the 1930s and has not survived. Ivan Skamnitsky was executed. According to historian and local historian Sergey Ledrov, there are no traces of the church left today.
