The Kazan Cathedral is an expressive example of cult architecture in the neo-Russian style. Its monumental volume was once topped with five domes on wooden drums, lost during the Soviet era. The construction of the temple used not only traditional brick but also monolithic concrete, Finnish granite, and asphalt. The cathedral has a square shape and a two-light volume with a high three-part apse of the altar and a two-tiered narthex at the main entrance, covered with a four-pitched roof. The side facades are distinguished by wide arched windows of the second light, visually enlarged by recessed niches with finely rusticated archivolts and a metal cornice reminiscent of zakomaras. The facades are divided into three parts by semicircular pilasters. The upper openings contrast with the smaller arched windows of the first light. Arched portals are located on the side facades, while the main entrance on the western porch features a more complex profiling with paired columns and an archivolt made of two rows of half-rounds. Above it is a large niche of the icon case with an arched finish, framed by fine rustication. Above the icon case, there is a forged openwork canopy that protected the image of the Kazan Mother of God. The facade decor includes a two-row belt of small columns, continuing as a frieze on the apses, and a row of runners at the base of the lower windows. Inside, the temple is covered with a sail vault and connected by triple openings to the main and two side altars. The walls are plastered and painted in a greenish color with ornamental painting in the corners of the vault. The altar wall is decorated with the painting 'We Praise You, God,' depicting groups of saints approaching the throne. The painting was done by Palekh artists under the guidance of I.I. Parilov, with a predominance of blue and ochre tones. In the central arch of the altar opening, the royal gates of the iconostasis with carvings framing the openings for icons have been preserved. The floors of the cathedral are laid with Mettlach tiles. The basement under the altar part was originally intended for the sacristy.
