Baptism is one of the Sacraments of the Orthodox Church. In this Sacrament, a person, through triple immersion in water while invoking the name of the Most Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, gains spiritual life and embarks on the path of Eternal Life. It opens the doors to the gracious Kingdom of Christ and the Orthodox Church, granting access to all its spiritual riches.

The Sacrament of Baptism was established by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, who sanctified it by His example, receiving baptism from John the Baptist in the Jordan River. Before His Ascension to Heaven, the Lord entrusted the apostles to baptize all who believe in Him, saying: "Go, teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Baptism is called a sacrament because through it, the invisible saving power of God and the grace of the Holy Spirit act upon the baptized, which remains incomprehensible to us.

The baptismal church at the Resurrection Cathedral was built in 2002 to the north of the Zhiovonosovskaya church. This rectangular building is topped with an onion dome.
