Our Lady of Kazan Church in San Francisco was founded by Russian emigrants in 1949 and is dedicated to the holy icon of the Virgin Mary of Kazan. The church's design was created by Russian emigrant Vladimir Granitov, who was living in Argentina at the time. A loan was taken out for the construction, and the initial building work was carried out by an Irish company, which, upon learning that they would be building an Orthodox church, offered their services at a reduced price. After the construction was completed, Russian emigrants took care of the church's interior. It is small in size and resembles a beautiful box. An Irish craftsman made the carved icon cases, while Russian emigrants worked on weekends. Soon, the church became one of the most beautiful in the region and on the continent.

The church is also dedicated to the memory of the royal martyrs, who at that time had not yet been officially canonized by the church but were already venerated among Russian emigrants. According to the widow of architect Granitov, all Russian emigrants arriving in the city first visited the church, where they were helped with work, given advice, and welcomed into a large emigrant family. Over time, the church began to deteriorate, and there were no funds for repairs. Then Tamara Alexandrovna Granitov donated an amount significantly exceeding the church's construction budget for the repairs. To do this, she sold her house and gave her savings. The Granitovs became the patrons of the church: Vladimir Vladimirovich was its elder until the end of his life, and thanks to his efforts, the church was well maintained.

Today, Our Lady of Kazan Church continues to hold services, and recently the parish celebrated the 70th anniversary of the church's construction. The first Russian emigrants are no longer here, but traditions are preserved, and even in the modern bustling world, people find time to visit this remarkable church, which stands as a monument to the first Christian pioneers of the Russian emigration.
