Church of Cassian of Uchem and Anastasia the Deliverer in Uchema

Фото 1
In the village of Uchema, there were two stone churches: the Assumption Church and the Precursor Church. The Assumption Church, a summer church, celebrates its feast day on August 15. Attached to it is a warm stone church dedicated to three Moscow saints: Peter, Alexius, and Jonah. Both churches were built in 1711 by the abbot Jonah and the builder hierodeacon Stephen. In the warm church, celebrations are held on October 4, the day of the repose of the venerable Cassian the Greek, the miracle worker of Uglich, and on October 5, in honor of Peter, Alexius, and Jonah. The second church, the Precursor Church, has an altar in honor of the Nativity of John the Baptist and a chapel in honor of the venerable Cassian. Its feast days are celebrated on June 24 and May 21. This church was built in 1825 by the parishioners. In the Assumption Church, the icon of the venerable Cassian the Greek, painted around 1659 by the priest Simeon according to the vision and instruction of the venerable Cassian, is especially venerated. In the warm church, there is a reliquary over the grave of the venerable Cassian the Greek, the miracle worker of Uglich, with an ancient icon of the venerable Cassian on top. Here is kept a wooden cross, covered with silver, which the saint wore during his lifetime, along with relics of various saints. The reliquary of the venerable Cassian contains a part of an ancient schema, traditionally believed to have been worn by the saint, which is placed on the sick. The relics of the venerable Cassian rest in a brick crypt. In the Precursor Church, there is a reliquary with parts of the relics of 72 servants of God.
