The Cathedral of the Kasperov Icon of the Mother of God in Mykolaiv impresses with its harmony of light, sound, colors, and proportions. Its construction began in 1904 based on the design by architect Fyodor Ivanovich Eppinger, a student of the famous K.A. Ton. The process was overseen by city architect Yevgeny Shtukenberg, and the contractor was D.I. Gavrilov. At that time, the construction committee had 40,000 rubles. Work progressed quickly, and by September, the walls were erected, but funds ran out, and construction halted. The city council provided a loan of 15,000 rubles for 15 years, but the pace of construction slowed. In early 1908, when the building was nearly complete, funds ran out again. On July 27, the council allocated 8,000 rubles as a grant to complete the construction and finishing. In 1908, the church was consecrated in the name of the Kasperov Icon of the Mother of God.

Inside, the church features a high hall with a semicircular vault. The walls are adorned with carved details and cornices. Seven domes symbolize the seven church sacraments. The 20th century brought dramatic events to the church. The Kasperov Church, like many others, lost its church valuables, and in October 1934, the cathedral was closed and repurposed as a club. During the German occupation in World War II, services were restored, but in 1949, the premises were taken from the believers again and returned to the club. In 1992, the church was returned to the faithful and handed over to the community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate. Services resumed, and reconstruction began. By 2010, the cathedral had almost completely restored its original appearance and received the status of the cathedral of the Kasperov Mother of God.
