The village of Donskoye was founded by Cossacks in the first half of the 17th century under the name Pyashkilskaya Sloboda, on the banks of the Pyashkil stream. In 1870-1871, a wooden church was built here in honor of the Beheading of John the Baptist, replacing the old church erected in the 1780s. The church had a parish school and church charity, and there was also a significant community of Baptists and Molokans. In 1939, the temple was closed, and its building was demolished. In 2002, the construction of a new stone church of John the Baptist began in the village, and the parish was registered on February 7, 2003.

Today, the village has a new single-domed stone church of John the Baptist with an altar apse, refectory, and a two-tiered bell tower with a tented roof.
