The question of building a monastery in Zelenodolsk was raised for the first time in 1997. After lengthy negotiations and approvals regarding the location and construction plan, in July 1999, the foundation of the church in honor of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called was laid, and in September, the walls began to be erected. The opening of the church for believers was planned for 2002. However, building solely on donations turned out to be impossible in our time, so it was decided to construct a temporary chapel and form a parish. The temporary church in honor of the Righteous John of Kronstadt was consecrated on January 7, 1999.
