The wooden church, built between 1846 and 1853, was lost during the Soviet era. A new small brick church with a basement was constructed in its place, representing a single-domed, single-apsidal structure with a narthex.

On October 9, 2014, a solemn opening and consecration of the church of the holy apostle and evangelist John the Theologian took place in the village of Vyazovka. The ceremony was led by Bishop Anthony of Akhtubinsk and Yenotayevsk. He was assisted by the dean of the Right Bank churches, Archpriest Alexander Maximov, secretary of the diocesan administration Priest Alexey Ugarov, rector of the Kazan church in the village of Staritsy Priest Vyacheslav Lysikov, rector of the church of John the Theologian in Vyazovka Priest Stefan Shcherbakov, and rector of the church in the village of Grachi Priest Vladimir Bredikhin. Among those present at the consecration were officials, including the head of the administration of the Chernozyarsky district D. M. Zaplavnov, the head of the administration of the village of Vyazovka A. N. Polina, as well as donors and benefactors of the church.

The construction of the church in Vyazovka began in 2009 at the initiative of the head of the Chernozyarsky district Dmitry Zaplavnov, who was born in this village. Thanks to Dmitry Mikhailovich's efforts, many people, benefactors, specialists, and volunteers joined the project. With the start of the church's construction, the spiritual life of the residents of Vyazovka began to revive. On October 5, the first class of the parish Sunday school was held.
