The village of Turtino is located 25 versts from Vladimir and 8 versts from Suzdal. It was the estate of the Suzdal episcopal house and belonged to it as early as the beginning of the 16th century during the reign of Grand Duke Vasily Ivanovich. The village has a stone five-domed two-story church: on the upper floor is the main altar in the name of the holy apostle and evangelist John the Theologian, and on the lower floor, in the name of the Life-Giving Spring of the Most Holy Theotokos. The church and the stone bell tower were built in 1820 with funds from the parishioners.

Church documents have been preserved in full: copies of the metric books have been kept since 1801, confession lists since 1826, and an inventory of church property was compiled in 1870. The church land includes: 1 tithe and 50 square fathoms of homestead land, 1 tithe and 900 square fathoms of haymaking land, and 31 tithes and 1670 square fathoms of arable land; there is a plan for the land. According to the staff, the clergy includes a priest and a psalmist. From the land and for the performance of church duties, the clergy receives up to 400 rubles in silver per year. The houses of the clergy are located on church land and are their property. The village has 111 households, 432 men, and 470 women. Since 1885, a church-parish school has been operating in the village.
