The ruins of the ancient church, consecrated in honor of John the Theologian, are located in a rural cemetery near the village of Senkovo.

Unfortunately, the history of this parish before the October Revolution remains unknown, as all church books and records were lost during the looting when the parish was closed and the building was handed over to the local collective farm. However, mentions of this stone church, dated to the early 19th century, have been preserved in the archives of the diocese.

From an architectural point of view, the building is a typical example of classicism, built according to a standard design. The central temple had the shape of an equal-armed cross, as seen from the remnants of the foundation and walls, and a rectangular refectory adjoined the western side. A three-tiered bell tower completed the ensemble of the church.

Currently, the church is heavily damaged, with no frescoes or paintings remaining on the walls. There is a staircase in the bell tower that allows one to ascend to the upper tiers and enjoy the view. Restoration of the Church of John the Theologian is not planned in the near future.
