In the village, there were two stone churches. The first was built in 1779 by landowner Alexei Ivanovich Levashov and had three altars, the main one dedicated to the holy apostle John the Theologian. The second church was constructed in 1857 by landowner Vasily Yakovlevich Levashov and had an altar in honor of the holy martyrs Boris and Gleb. The clergy included a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist, each of whom had their own house. The parishioners were residents of the village of Kamenska, the hamlet of Novo-Nikolskoye, as well as the villages of Kalinovka, Romanovka, Bokshandino, and Alexandrovka. There were a total of 436 households, 1467 men, and 1539 women. In the hamlet of Novo-Nikolskoye, there was a stone chapel, and in the village of Romanovka, a wooden one. In the 1930s, the churches in the village were closed. One of them was reopened in February 1945, which was a significant event for the believers of the entire district. People came to the services not only from the nearby villages and hamlets but also from the entire district and the neighboring Republic of Chuvashia.
