Фото 1
The village of Eloha is located on the Koloksha River, 8 versts from Yuryev and 73 versts from Vladimir. Until 1691, it was considered a palace estate, and on July 12 of that year, according to patriarchal records, it was transferred to the boyar Peter and the okolnichy Vasily Lopukhin. In the village, there was a wooden church in the name of John the Theologian, which stood until 1834.

In 1834, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a stone church was built with the same bell tower. The church has three altars: the main one in honor of the holy apostle and evangelist John the Theologian and two side altars, in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and in the name of the righteous Simeon the God-receiver and the prophetess Anna. The church keeps copies of the metric books from 1802 and confession records from 1830; an inventory of church property compiled in 1887 has also been preserved.

According to the plan of 1771, the church land includes 1962 square fathoms of homestead land, 5 desyatins of haymaking land, and 28 desyatins of arable land. A copy of this plan is kept in the church. The clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist. The annual income of the clergy amounts to 462 rubles, including 136 rub. 80 kop. in interest from church capital, 100 rub. from land, and 225 rub. for sacramental services. The clergy has its own houses. The parish consists of one village with 70 households, where 208 men and 264 women live. Since 1891, a literacy school has been operating in the psalmist's house.
