The village of Chuguny is located in the Vorotynsky district. According to the order of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD, the rural John the Theologian Church was recognized as an object of historical and cultural heritage. The church dates back to the early 20th century. However, according to the data from the State Heritage Protection Office of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, order No. 5-OD was revoked on October 20, 2014, by order No. 159.
