In the center of the village of Ulovo stands the church of the holy prophet Elijah. The first mentions of the church appear in the land registry books of 1628 and 1630, when it was wooden, like many other village churches of that time. The stone building we see today was erected in 1796 at the request of the church elder, peasant Nikifor Stepanov, sent to Bishop Viktor Anisimov of Vladimir and Suzdal on June 22, 1796. This document speaks of the construction of a stone church to replace the wooden one, as well as a request to allow the collection of donations for two years and to issue a book for registering donors. The text indicates that the old wooden church had fallen into disrepair, and in mid-1796, the construction of the new stone church began, which was completed a few years later.

The church is designed in the classical architectural style of the late 18th century. It and the tall bell tower are situated on a hill, making them visible from afar. Behind the bell tower was a narrow steep staircase leading to the bells, from where a magnificent view of the surroundings opened up. It is said that on a clear day, the white-stone church of the Intercession on the Nerl near Bogolyubovo could be seen from the bell tower.

In 1865, two altars were consecrated in the Elijah church: on November 7 in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos and on November 8 in honor of the Archangel Michael.

According to the schedule of parishes and congregations of the Vladimir diocese, approved on April 7, 1873, the church of the prophet Elijah in Ulovo was a dependent church, while the main church of the Vasilykovsko-Ulol parish was considered to be the Intercession church in Vasilykovo. In 1876, this division was abolished, and until the church's closure in 1917, the Ulovo parish became independent, consisting of a priest and a psalmist.

The iconostases of the two side altars were gilded in the early 1870s, for which the Archbishop of Vladimir and Suzdal expressed gratitude and blessings to the parishioners of the village of Ulovo. In 1880, the interior walls of the church were adorned with frescoes, some of which have survived to this day. The parishioners collected 250 rubles for this work.

Documents reveal the names of some priests who served in Ulovo. The confession register of 1761 indicates that Ivan Dmitriev replaced the deceased priest Afanasiev Sidor. Research to restore the list of clergy is ongoing.

After the revolution of 1917, the church in Ulovo faced the fate of many Russian churches. On January 30, 1930, the Politburo of the Central Committee of the VKP made the decision to close churches. Documents indicate that the church was closed on September 17, 1937. The tragic fate of one of the last priests who served in the Elijah church is known. Priest Ioann Arbuzov, who served since 1916, was arrested in 1927 and shot on December 29, 1937, by the decision of the Troika of the NKVD of the Arkhangelsk region.

After its closure, the church was used as a grain storage facility and gradually fell into disrepair.

Since the summer of 2010, life around the church began to revive: services and memorials started to be held on Sundays and holidays. On the feast day of the prophet Elijah, August 2, in 2012 and 2013, Divine Liturgies and processions were conducted. Also, on August 2, 2013, the rite of breaking and consecrating bread was performed, which is associated with a centuries-old tradition dedicated to the memory of the prophet Elijah.
