The first church in Ilyinskoye, built in the 1780s, was wooden. Over time, it became cramped, and it was rebuilt.

On January 6, 1816, the church burned down as a result of a fire. In 1821, the parishioners decided to construct a new stone church, which was completed in 1827 at their expense. The parish of the Ilyin church included all the village communities, as well as Zeleny Dol and Vasilyevo. The church had three altars: the main one, dedicated to the prophet Elijah, was unheated, while the two heated ones were in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh the Miracle Worker and St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker.

Churches received land from the state fund, and the Ilyin church also had arable and haymaking lands that were rented out to peasants.

The local archpriest, appointed by the diocesan bishop, monitored compliance with the Orthodox Church's statutes, the regularity of services, and the moral conduct of the clergy. Violations were strictly recorded, the most common being drunkenness and misconduct. As punishment, clergy could be sent to the Kazan Zilantov Monastery for a certain period, and in particularly severe cases, they could be defrocked. Among the priests of the Ilyin church during the post-revolutionary period were Rudolsky, Vinogradov, Cherkasov, and Menshikov. Initially, the church staff included a priest, a deacon, a church clerk, and a sexton. Later, the deacon and sexton were replaced by a psalmist, and from 1891, after the construction of a church in the village of Gari and its separation into an independent parish, it was decided not to appoint a deacon to the Ilyin church.

In the Ilyinskoye parish, there were three zemstvo schools: in Ilyinskoye, Belobezvodnoye, and Aisha. In Ilyinskoye, there was a church school from 1861 to 1875, which later came under the jurisdiction of the zemstvo. The building of the zemstvo school, built by Kazan merchant Pavel Stepanov, has survived to this day and is used as a dining hall for the former country camp. The school in Belobezvodnoye opened in 1855 in a house built with funds from the Raifa Monastery. The school in Aisha was founded in 1910. There was also a school in Zeleny Dol where priests taught the Law of God.

The Ilyin church had a library, which in 1910 contained 768 books. Churches long performed state functions, such as maintaining metric books, recording the civil population, and civil status acts, which are now carried out by the Civil Registry Office. The Ilyin church has been keeping metric books since 1780.
