The 1629 census book of Domozhirova mentions "in the Kholunitsa district on the Kholunitsa River, a warm church of the Prophet Elijah with an altar of Martyr Paraskeva and a refectory, as well as a cold church of St. George the Passion-Bearer."

In 1745, at the request of priest Fyodor, his assistants, and the church elder, permission was granted to consecrate a new wooden church of St. John the Theologian, built on the site of the burned one.

By 1764, there were two wooden churches in the village: the cold Ilyinskaya and the warm, but dilapidated, Ioanno-Bogoslovskaya.

In 1772, the clergy and the elder, along with parishioners, appealed to the Vyatka diocese with a request to build a new stone church in honor of the Holy Epiphany on the site of the dilapidated wooden church of St. John the Theologian. They also proposed to rename the Ilyinskaya church in honor of the Holy Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian. The petition was granted, and on October 30, 1772, a decree was issued for the construction of the stone temple with permission to dismantle the old Theological church.

The new stone temple was arranged with three altars: in the cold church, in honor of the Holy Epiphany, consecrated on July 16, 1783; the warm southern altar, in honor of the Holy Prophet Elijah, consecrated on November 3, 1775; and the warm northern altar, in honor of the Holy Spirit, consecrated on July 3, 1776.

The wooden church of St. John the Theologian was dismantled in 1775, while the second Ilyinskaya church remained until the 1820s.

In 1849, at the request of the parishioners and with the blessing of the Most Reverend, the Holy Spirit altar was renamed and consecrated in honor of the Holy Great Martyr Paraskeva. The Epiphany altar in the cold church has been called the Prophet-Elijah altar since 1868, while the right altar of the warm church became the Epiphany altar.

The cold church continues to exist with the Ilyin altar, while the warm church was rebuilt in 1909. It has two altars: the southern, consecrated on November 8, 1909, in honor of the Holy Epiphany, and the northern, which was not consecrated.
