The stone church with a single dome, combined with a bell tower, was built in 1806. It has two altars: one for the holy prophet Elijah and another for the holy Cosmas and Damian. The consecration of the temple was conducted that same year by Archimandrite Joasaph from the Rostov Avramiev Monastery. This is the first church in the village of Astafyevo, as there was not even a wooden church here before. Therefore, it lacks ancient and miraculous icons, as well as antique church utensils.

Three processions are held at the church: on the day of the Ascension of the Lord, on the day of the holy martyr Mokius, and on the day of the martyr Glykeria. The first two processions are associated with holidays, while the last was established in memory of a fire. The church land covers 46 desyatinas, and the parish includes two villages.
