The village of Novoselka-Gory is located by the river, 20 versts from the district town and 140 versts from the provincial capital. The Novoselka parish and church were founded in the early 18th century. At that time, the village belonged to the Nikolayevsky Ugreshsky Monastery, and in 1712, local residents built a church dedicated to the holy prophet Elijah. The church had a priest, a deacon, and a prosphora baker. The parish had 22 peasant households, and the land was divided into 43 quarters of arable land and 50 haycocks.

In 1769, with the permission of Bishop Silvester of Pereslavl, a new wooden church with a bell tower was built. In 1828, a stone temple was erected on the site of the wooden church, with the same bell tower, which still exists today. The temple has three altars: in the cold part in honor of the holy prophet Elijah and in the warm chapel in honor of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. All church documents are preserved: copies of the metric books since 1791 and confession lists since 1829. The clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist. Their maintenance is provided by interest from a capital of 4600 rubles, amounting to 184 rubles, as well as income from mowing, grain collection, and services, totaling up to 554 rubles per year. The peasants are obliged to pay the clergy 100 rubles, but this obligation is not fulfilled. The priest lives in the church house, while the psalmist lives in his own house built from church timber.

The land associated with the church includes: 110 square fathoms under the church, 1 dessiatine 1200 square fathoms for the homestead, 47 dessiatines 688 fathoms of arable land, of which 40 dessiatines were sold to support the clergy, 14 dessiatines 1129 fathoms of haymaking land, as well as land under the former settlement of clergy, the former church, and the cemetery, totaling 1950 fathoms. In total, there are 93 dessiatines 1969 square fathoms. There is a plan and boundary book for this land. The priest rents out the arable land to peasants for 5 quarters of rye per year. The parish includes the village and the villages: Klimova, Mostovka, and Isaytseva, where 265 men and 348 women live, all Orthodox. There are two literacy schools operating in the Novoselka parish.
