On August 16, 2020, the Divine Liturgy was held for the first time after the desecration of the Holy Nicholas Church in the village of Znamenska. Prior to this, restoration work had been actively underway since March of the same year. During this time, the roof was restored, a new dome with a cross was installed, and thanks to the rough pouring of the floors, it became possible to conduct the first Divine Liturgy in nearly a hundred years. This significant event marked the end of a period of oblivion and, we hope, will become the beginning of the spiritual revival of the village. Before the liturgy, a water blessing service was performed, and the walls of the church, new utensils, and the altar were sprinkled with holy water, consecrating the church with a minor rite.

On this day, many local residents, volunteers from the 'Pushkin Volunteer' project, guests, and relatives of the last priest who served here, Vasily Arkhangelsky, who was shot in 1937, gathered under the arches of the ancient church. The communal prayer was supported by Alla Alexandrovna Morozova, acting head of the administration of the Bolshie Boldino district, and Vladimir Mikhailovich Kochetov, head of the local self-government. Many received the Holy Mysteries of Christ during the service, including children, which is especially important; this is why it is worth reviving the church.

The village of Znamenska became the site for the implementation of the 'Pushkin Volunteer' project, which was funded by the Presidential Grants Fund with the participation of the company 'Atomstroyexport'. Fifteen employees from the engineering division of the State Corporation 'Rosatom' from various regions of Russia arrived to help restore the Church of St. Nicholas. They cleared the area and the church's basement of debris and topsoil, participated in the installation of bells, and prepared the church for worship. Local residents and other concerned individuals who wanted to contribute to this important cause also joined the work.

The lamp of prayer is lit, and we hope that this endeavor to preach the Gospel truth will lead many to the salvation of their souls, deliverance from evil, and the attainment of spiritual perfection.

On October 19, 2014, the residents of the village of Znamenska gathered under the surviving arches of the ancient church to offer prayers for its revival. The prayer service to begin this good work was conducted by the archpriest of the Boldino district, Father Evgeny Kachkin, with the deacon Peter Kustov serving alongside him. After the prayer service, the walls of the church and all the worshippers were sprinkled with holy water. In his address to the residents, the priest emphasized the importance of restoring the church, but even more importantly, preserving one's own spiritual life and preventing bitterness and enmity in the heart. Together with the parishioners, plans were made for the revival of the church, cleaning the surrounding area, and starting a fundraising campaign for the restoration of the shrine.
