The parish of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Sign' was founded in 1993. In 1998, the Volgograd-2 train depot transferred an old train car to the parish, which was converted into a church. In 1999, services began in this temporary church under the guidance of Father Sergey Chernyavsky. The prayer room, located in the basement of the future church, is spacious. There is also a library. The priest provides spiritual support to hospitals No. 11 and No. 7, as well as to the employees of the Petrov plant.

In May 2012, construction of the upper church began. Thanks to the help of benefactors, the work is progressing actively. In August 2013, a dome was installed on the newly built Church of the Nativity of Christ.
