The village of Svaino is located by an unnamed stream and in the past belonged to the Miloslavsky princes. At the end of the 16th and beginning of the 17th centuries, its owner was Mikhail Vasilyevich Miloslavsky. In the mid-17th century, a church was built here, the antimins of which, consecrated by Patriarch Joachim during the reign of Tsar Feodor Alekseevich, was preserved until 1870, when it was replaced due to wear. The church was made of stone, two-storied, with a bell tower and a fence, but was destroyed during the Soviet era. It had two altars: on the lower floor in honor of the Sign of the Mother of God, and on the upper floor, in the name of the Holy Blessed Princes Boris and Gleb. Of particular interest were the ancient icons of the Kazan Mother of God in a silver robe and the Sign of the Mother of God, adorned with a silver-gilded robe and pearl decorations. The robe had an inscription indicating its origin from Veliky Novgorod.

In the church library, there was a General Menology from 1682 with an inscription about its donor, the steward Gerasim Pavlovich Savelov. How it ended up in the Svaino church is unknown. The church owned 2 desyatinas of estate land, 3 desyatinas of haymaking, and 30 desyatinas of arable land. According to the staff, the clergy consisted of a priest and a psalmist, who had church and public houses.

In the 19th century, the village belonged to the landowners Pushkevich. The parish included only the village of Svaino, which at the end of the 19th century had 49 households and a population of 196 men and 211 women. A zemstvo public school also operated in the village.
