Church of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Sign' in Bolshoye Maresyevo

The founding of the village is linked to Ivan the Terrible's last campaign against Kazan in 1552. According to the order of the Department for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Heritage of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD, the village's Nikolskaya Church was recognized as a historical and cultural heritage site. The church has altars: the main cold altar dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, as well as cold chapels, the right one in honor of the Venerable Alexius, Man of God, and the left one in honor of the Great Martyr Barbara. In the warm refectory, there is the altar of the Sign of the Mother of God. The church dates back to 1783. According to the data from the Department of State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, order 5-OD was revoked on October 20, 2014, by order No. 159.
