The church in the village of Starye Algashi was built in 1841 and consecrated in honor of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow'. In 1849, a strong storm struck the bell tower, causing it to collapse onto the dome, which led to its destruction, as well as the complete destruction of the iconostasis and damage to the altar. By the autumn of 1850, the building was restored. However, in the summer of 1868, the church burned down, and in its place, a new one was built in 1870, which has survived to this day.
