On October 5, 2017, local volunteers once again contributed to the improvement of the cemetery church ensemble in the village of Nikol-Pogost. In the church dedicated to the Icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow', wooden structures of the roof extension were treated with a fire protection compound. Dangerous dry trees were also removed along the fence, and the cut branches were gathered into piles. The initiative was led by the Charitable Foundation 'Revival of Christian Shrines of Nizhny Novgorod Land', whose main goal is to restore the cemetery church ensemble of the village of Nikol-Pogost in the Gorodets district of Nizhny Novgorod region. The ensemble includes the church, the fence, and the gates of the active cemetery.

On September 4, 2018, an important event took place at the Nikol-Pogost cemetery, the consecration and installation of a cross on the dome of the church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow'. After this, repair work on the restoration of the dome actively continued at the cemetery church of the village of Nikol-Pogost. Within a few days, wooden cranes were made and installed, after which specialists began to lay the framework for the vault. Local volunteers from the 'Revival of Christian Shrines of Nizhny Novgorod Land' foundation continue to actively participate in the restoration of the church. Thanks to their help, new windows were made and installed on the upper drum of the dome.
