The church in the village of Kozmodemyansk was founded in 1794 and has two altars: in honor of the Most Holy Theotokos 'Joy of All Who Sorrow' and Saint Nicholas.

The church lands cover 26 desyatinas. The parish encompasses six settlements: Kozmodemyanskoye, Pistsovo, Yukovo, Borisovo, Borovaya, and Barskoye. In total, there are 92 houses in these settlements, inhabited by 239 men and 310 women.

The church is a two-light square structure with an octagonal dome, a small refectory, and a bell tower with a spire. It was closed in 1945 and has been abandoned since then.
