The first church in the village of Isheevka was built in 1654 and dedicated to Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. In 1791, Stepan Egorovich Krotkov transferred this church, or possibly a second one, to the peasants of Podgorodnaya Kamenka. In its place, the current stone church was erected, consecrated in the name of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow.' In 1879, a parish charity was established at the church.

In the 2000s, the rector of the church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow,' Priest Mikhail Galnykin, along with local residents, began the construction of a new church. The initiative came from the local residents, and a building that had housed a shooting range until 1995 was allocated for construction. With God's help and the efforts of the parishioners, under the guidance of the priest, the building was transformed into a church. An altar was added, a bell tower was erected, and both internal and external renovations were carried out.

The church also provides spiritual support to children in the orphanage of the village of Maximovka. This institution is for children with severe mental disabilities and is under the care of the regional Committee for Social Protection of the Population. Divine Liturgy is held at the orphanage during church holidays. The sacraments of Baptism, Confession, and Communion are performed in the home church of the orphanage.
