In 2002, a wooden church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Joy of All Who Sorrow' was built at the entrance to the village of Breytovo in the Yaroslavl region, near the village cemetery. The funds for its construction were raised through donations from local residents. The design of the single-domed church with a bell tower was taken from the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Construction began in 1998 with the consecration of the foundation and the laying of the first stone, conducted by priest Georgy Filimonov with the blessing of Archbishop Mikhail of Yaroslavl and Rostov. At the same time, a chapel was built and consecrated at the cemetery next to the church. The construction was led by V. Tyorkin and Yu. Butylkin from the Myshkin House of Crafts. Carpenters from the village of Ulyanikhа made the logs, and by June 1999, they installed the 'octagons' on the buildings of the church and bell tower. The work involved carpenters I.A. Kuznetsov, S.P. Belous, N.N. Sokolov, and V. Petrov under the supervision of foreman A.P. Kuznetsov. In the summer of that same year, the rafter system with battens for the roof was installed, and in the autumn, the roof was covered. In 2001, local carpenters V.D. Vinogradov and his son Alexei covered the church's log structure with wooden paneling, and the roof of the church was adorned with elegant domes topped with crosses. The carved iconostasis was made by V. Gavrilov, and the chapel was built by V. Gridnev and his sons. Three bells weighing a total of 150 kg were cast by masters from Tutayev under the guidance of N.A. Shuvalov, with expenses paid by Anatoly Alexandrovich Barakin, a native of the village of Breytovo. The domes and porch were also crafted by Tutayev masters.

On October 29, 2005, the wooden church in honor of the icon 'Joy of All Who Sorrow' in the village of Breytovo, Yaroslavl region, burned down.
