The church was built according to the design of architect Natalia Barlaeva. The first and still serving priest is Archpriest Valery Medvedev, who previously worked as an engineer. By God's will, he began to serve and was ordained as a deacon on July 9, 1988, by Bishop Nikolai Kutepov. The first service took place on July 12, 1988, in the village of Veliky Vrag in the Kstovo district together with Archpriest Grigory Dolbunov, where he served for two years. In 1990, he was sent to his hometown of Pavlovo to restore the church of the Ascension of the Lord, where he worked until 1994, dealing with construction issues. In May 1994, he was dispatched to the village of Arefino for three months. During this time, Valery blessed parishioner Tatyana Shevyreva for a trip to Bishop Nikolai to obtain permission for the construction of a new church. On August 28, 1994, Valery Medvedev was handed the order of appointment as the rector of the church 'Heal My Sorrows,' which had not yet been built. After much thought, the Medvedev family, relying on God's will, decided to begin construction.

On September 4, the site for construction was consecrated. During the singing in the open air, the acoustics were like in a church. Services and memorials began in the open field, although there was no money for construction, and times were tough.

The first church community consisted of 11 people, including rector Valery Medvedev, psalmist Sofia Ivanovna Medvedeva, benefactor Tatyana Mikhailovna Shevyreva, assistant benefactor Marina Morenova, treasurer Valentina Mikhailovna, artist Alexander Nikolaevich Mikhalenya, and others. Among the benefactors of the construction were Alexey Shlyapin, who provided blocks for the zero cycle, Pyotr Alexandrovich Kochetov, who donated a construction trailer, and others. Valery Medvedev's son, also a priest, Sergey, occasionally helped in the service.

The construction lasted two years, from October 1994 to October 1996, and throughout this time, services were held in a trailer.

The consecration of the church took place on October 1, 1996, by Metropolitan Nikolai. Representatives of the local administration and business, architect Natalia Barlaeva, and the dean of the Vyksa district, Archpriest Gennady Kolokolov, were present at the ceremony. The parish has a Sunday school led by Mother Sofia, educational discussions with parishioners are held, and processions to the restored Spasskaya chapel at Klyuchik, completed in 2006, are conducted.
