The stone church in the village of Nikolsk, designed for 400 people, was built in 1831 with funds from Countess Anna Alexeyevna Orlova-Chesmenskaya. The temple was consecrated in honor of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos 'Burning Bush'.

At that time, the village was part of the Simbirsk province, as the Samara province was only established in 1851. The area around the church, covering 260 square fathoms, was enclosed by a sturdy stone wall. The land area under the building itself was 75 square fathoms, and in front of the church was a square of 3 desyatinas.

Outside the village was a church cemetery, surrounded by a ditch. The parish owned 33 desyatinas of arable land and about 10 desyatinas of hayfields.

The church had three altars in one sanctuary. The main altar in honor of the icon of the Mother of God 'Burning Bush' and the southern side altar in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker were consecrated in 1832 by Archbishop Anatoly of Simbirsk. In 1833, the Samara protodeacon Ivan Tsvetkov consecrated the northern side altar in honor of St. George the Victorious.

The church had a parish school. Since 1895, a one-class Chuvash church school operated at the temple. The parish included neighboring villages that did not have their own churches: Kupino, Kievka, Grigorievka, Vyslaya Dubrava, Dmitrievka. In 1900, a wooden church of the Protection of the Mother of God was built in Kupino, and the village became a separate parish.

The church building in the village of Nikolsk was used for its intended purpose for 100 years. In 1931, the church was closed and used as a grain warehouse, workshops, and a gas station.

Then came oblivion.

In 2006, Archbishop Sergey of Samara and Syzran ordered the restoration of the church. From that year, it was decided to establish an Orthodox parish in the village of Nikolsk in honor of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos 'Burning Bush'. The parish was attached to the church of St. Seraphim of Sarov in Novokuybyshevsk and was created by its rector, protodeacon Sergey Uskov. In January 2007, he approved the reconstruction sketch.
