On January 25, 2019, a cross and dome were consecrated for the restoring church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Do Not Weep for Me, Mother' in the village of Protopopovka, Arzamas District, Nizhny Novgorod Region. The consecration was led by the dean of the Arzamas district, Priest Vladimir Kargin, assisted by clergy from the deanery: Priest Alexander Malkin, responsible for the revival of the church, and Priest Antoniy Balabanov.

Many villagers attended the service, including the head of the Kirillovsky rural administration, Alexey Antipov, the village elder, Alexander Komisarov, and deputy Marina Manturova. Before the consecration, Father Alexander addressed those gathered with a pastoral word, congratulating them on this important event and emphasizing that the revival of the church symbolizes the revival of the village. He wished for the strengthening of faith and spiritual life. After the consecration, the cross and dome were raised and installed on the church.

The church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God 'Do Not Weep for Me, Mother' was built by the efforts of the residents of Protopopovka in 1819. In addition to the main altar, the church had side altars in honor of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker and Saint Sergius of Radonezh. A church school for 60 students operated at the church, and the parish was actively involved in charity work. In the 1930s, the church was closed, and the last rector, Priest Alexey Loktev, was shot on November 1, 1937. The building housed the village administration and a club. The revival of the church began in 2010, and the first Divine Liturgy took place in the church in the autumn of 2014.
