Church of Guriy, Samon, and Aviva in Karacharovo

Фото 1
The Church of Guriy, Samon, and Aviva, located at the Karacharovo rural cemetery, was built in 1845 thanks to the townsman Guriy Sintsov. The church is designed in the style of ancient Russian architecture and is characterized by simplicity. It has one dome, keel-shaped finishes on the window frames, carved cornices, and an elegant light drum. Next to the church is a mass grave of the residents of Karacharovo who perished during the plague in 1603.

The modest church is hidden in the greenery of the ancient cemetery, making it not so easy to notice. Only the golden dome shines brightly in the sun, while the white walls of the recently restored church stand out against the greenery. The church is currently active, and it houses an icon with a relic of the most venerated saint in Karacharovo, Ilya Muromets.
