From the "Chronicle of the Church of the Village of Yuryevsk," it is known that in 1792 a stone church was built in the village of Yuryevsk in honor of St. George the Great Martyr. Its construction was made possible by the efforts and funds of the late Major Afanasy Semyonovich Davydov with the blessing of Archbishop Arseny of Yaroslavl.

Before this, there was a wooden church in the village dedicated to the prophet Elijah, which had two chapels: one for St. Nicholas and the other for the holy martyrs Flora and Lavra. This church was built in 1760 by the efforts of the parishioners and stood until 1848. In 1848, by order of the Yaroslavl Spiritual Consistory, the church was dismantled by Priest Vasily Ushakov, and a wooden chapel was built in its place.

The stone church has three altars: the main one for St. George the Great Martyr, and in the warm chapels, for the Vladimir Mother of God and St. Tikhon of Amathus the Miracle Worker. All were consecrated in 1792 by Archpriest Nikolai Fyodorov.

According to the "Report on the Churches of the Rostov Diocese" presented in 1723, there was a wooden church of St. George the Great Martyr in the village of Yuryevsk, and the village had 8 households. There served a priest, a deacon, and a subdeacon.

For the residence of the priest and the psalmist, church houses were built: a house for the priest in 1878 funded by the church and the parish, and for the psalmist, in 1875 from donations by parishioners.

The parishioners of the church, representatives of a purely Russian tribe, were previously settled in the village of Yuryevsk and the surrounding villages: Martynovo, Glinino, Isakovo, Bogalino, Levtsovo, Trufanovo, Ignatovo, and Dyakonovka. Initially, the parish included all these settlements, but now it only includes the first six, while the other three have been assigned to other parishes. The volost administration, previously located in the village of Yuryevsk, is now situated in the village of Martynovo and manages twenty-one rural communities with 30 villages.

Since 1875, a public zemstvo volost school has been operating in the village of Yuryevsk, created with the funds of the community and benefactors. In 1892, in honor of the centenary of the local church, a literacy school was opened in the village of Martynovo.
