The parish of St. George the Victorious was founded in 2006. The church, located on the territory of the Volgograd Metallurgical Plant "Krasny Oktyabr," opened on May 6, 2007. It is the only church in the Southern Federal District located on a closed metallurgical enterprise. By agreement with the plant's management, access to the church is open daily for all who wish to visit.

The "Krasny Oktyabr" plant is one of the oldest in the city, with construction beginning in 1897. On April 30, 1897, the ceremonial laying of the first slab of the Ural-Volga Metallurgical Plant took place. The site for construction was consecrated by Archpriest Flegmatov, and Peter Arkadyevich Stolypin attended the ceremony, delivering a speech about the significance of the plant for Russia.

In 1898, shortly after the plant's launch, the idea arose to build its own Orthodox church. According to the director of the plant's museum, a prayer house was built simultaneously with the plant. On December 17, 1903, the Saratov Spiritual Consistory allowed it to be renamed as an independent church, which received the name Holy Trinity.

The family of one of the priests worked at the plant, and his wife worked in the plant's library. The Holy Trinity Church actively had an Orthodox sobriety community.

After the arrival of Soviet power in 1927, the church building was transformed into a culture house named after V.I. Lenin. During the Great Patriotic War, the Holy Trinity Church was destroyed.

During the Battle of Stalingrad, the front line passed through the territory of the plant, where fierce fighting lasted for over 100 days. The plant was completely destroyed, and thousands of soldiers died defending it.

In 2005, shareholders of Minland Resources Ltd and director Alexey Petrovich Fomenko decided to build the factory church of St. George the Victorious. This name was chosen in honor of one of the most revered saints in Russia, the patron of the Russian military. In early May, the Orthodox Church celebrates his day. The veneration of St. George came from Byzantium after the baptism of Rus. In the 18th century, his image appeared on the coat of arms of Moscow, and today it is part of the all-Russian coat of arms.

On May 5, 2005, Metropolitan German consecrated the site for the construction of the church. Initially, the construction was supervised by Archimandrite Elisei (Fomkin), the rector of the nearby church of the Righteous John of Kronstadt, who consecrated the cornerstone in the fall of 2005. The construction was coordinated from the plant by Igor Viktorovich Vazhenin. In the spring of 2006, Metropolitan German consecrated the bells of the bell tower. On July 28, 2006, he blessed the creation of the parish and appointed Priest Alexey Alexeev as the rector. From that moment, water blessing services were regularly held at the construction site on the Twelve Great Feasts. In the spring of 2006, the domes of the church were consecrated and installed. On February 2, 2007, a service was held in the building church in honor of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad, attended by the granddaughter of the last factory priest. On May 6, 2007, Metropolitan German performed the full consecration of the church in the presence of a large gathering of plant workers and parishioners. The relics of the Vilnius martyrs Anthony, Eustathius, and John were laid in the foundation of the altar.

The project of the Church of St. George the Victorious was developed by architect Yuri Vadimovich Kossovich, also known as the author of the project of the Church of All Saints on Mamayev Kurgan.

A Pastoral Orthodox Rehabilitation Center for helping people with alcohol and drug addiction operates at the church. In 2010, with the blessing of Metropolitan German of Volgograd and Kamyshin, stationary rehabilitation was opened in the form of a closed therapeutic community.
