In the village of Veksitsy, there is the church of the great martyr George with two warm chapels: on the right, in honor of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, and on the left, in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God. This stone five-domed structure is connected to a stone single-domed bell tower. According to the church foundation charter issued by Archbishop Arsenius at the request of Priest Matvey Gavrilov and church elder Ivan Yakovlev, the stone church was built to replace an old wooden one thanks to the efforts of the parishioners and was consecrated in 1798 by Hieromonk Isaac from the Belogostitsky Monastery.

Before the current stone church, there were two wooden churches in the village. The first was unheated and dedicated to the great martyr George. The exact date of its construction is unknown, but a decree from 1771 indicates that it was not new but quite sturdy, suggesting its construction in the late 17th century. This church was quite tall, and parishioner Ivan Ivanovich Ushakov, being a college registrar, approached Bishop Athanasius with a request to allow him to build a warm church in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God beneath it at his own expense, to which he received permission. However, in 1772, due to the great height of the cold George church and concerns about damage, Ushakov canceled the construction of the warm church below and asked Bishop Athanasius for permission to build a warm church in a separate location, which he did, fully financing the project and providing everything necessary.
