Chusovskaya Sloboda is considered one of the oldest settlements in the Pervouralsk urban district. Its foundation dates back to 1651, and the founder is believed to be Afanasy Ivanovich Gilev. According to the 1659 census of the Verkhoturye district, Chusovskaya Sloboda had 26 peasant households: 12 in the sloboda itself, 5 in the village of Zavyalkovka, 8 in the village of Krylosa, and 1 in the village of Gileva.

The first wooden church in honor of St. George the Victorious in Utkinskaya Sloboda was built in 1690, but its exact location and architectural features are unknown. This is due to the fact that in the 17th century the concept of "Chusovskaya Sloboda" was quite vague and likely included several small villages.

The village of Kuzina on the left bank of the Utka River, Utkinskaya Sloboda or Malaya Sloboda on the right bank, and the future village of Utkinskoye or Bolshaya Sloboda in the bend of the Chusovaya River at the end of the 17th century formed one administrative unit, Chusovskaya or Utkinskaya Sloboda.

On the plans of the early 18th century, church buildings in the territory of the Utkinskaya state pier are not visible, but on later plans from the 19th century, the church was already located on the right bank of the Chusovaya, in the territory of Utkinskoye village.

The Georgievsky parish included the villages of Kuzina, Kamenska, Konovalovo, Krylosa, Nizhnyaya, Treki; the factories of Novo-Utkinsky, Staro-Utkinsky, Staroshaytansky, and Sylvensky; and the fortresses of Grobovskaya, Kirgishanskaya, Bisertskaya, and Achitskaya. For such an extensive parish, there was only one priest.

In 1801, the church burned down, and in 1802, parishioners wanted to build a new wooden church, but the Perm bishop Justin allowed only a stone one to be built. In 1805, having prepared materials, the parishioners submitted a request for the construction of a stone church, and in June 1806, the solemn laying of the temple took place. The small chapel was consecrated on September 14, 1807, and the main church on June 8, 1831.

The church was located on the rocky bank of the Chusovaya and had two separate rooms. The main church was not heated, so services were held there only in summer, while in winter, they were held in the small chapel.

In 1894, both churches were connected by an arch, and the chapel was abolished. Since then, the architecture of the church has changed little.

In 1922, silver was confiscated from the church, and from 1924, the church became of Sergiev orientation. In 1934, the ringing of bells was prohibited. In 1937, the bells were removed, but one of them fell and could not be lifted, leaving it on the slope of the mountain, where it disappeared.

The old Georgievskaya chapel was destroyed due to dilapidation, but the Georgievskaya church was preserved. It remained an important spiritual center, and services in it did not cease even during the Soviet years.

In 1995, bells reappeared on the bell tower, and their ringing heralded the revival of the temple. By 2003, the repairs were completed, and the church once again stood in all its beauty above the rocky bank of the Chusovaya.
