The village of Slavitsino, located by the Shakha River, is 27 versts from the district town and 90 versts from the provincial center. Until 1764, it belonged to the Pereslavl Goritsky Monastery. In 1628-1629, a new wooden church was built in the village in honor of the Holy Martyr George, as noted in the land books of that time. It is mentioned that there was no priest in the church. The church was only included in the revenue books in 1643. The census books of 1678 also mention a church with the same name, where a priest named Semyon and a deacon served.

A wooden church in honor of the same saint existed in Slavitsino at the end of the 18th century. Its cross was made of iron, the dome was covered with wooden shingles, and it was roofed with wooden tiles. The bell tower stood separately and had five bells, the largest of which weighed 16 poods.

In 1812, the construction of a stone temple began on the site of the wooden church, which lasted for 9 years. In 1867, a small stone chapel was added to the temple. Currently, the church has three altars: in the cold part in honor of St. George the Great Martyr, in the warm refectory in honor of the Prophet Elijah and St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The church is well equipped with utensils, vestments, holy icons, and liturgical books. From the former wooden church, silver vessels, a wooden cross covered with silver, and three altar gospels have been preserved, one of which was gifted in 1764 by the hieromonk Alexius. Church documents, including copies of metric books since 1801 and confession lists since 1827, are kept in good order.

Until 1877, the church had its own clergy, but from 1877 to 1892, the parish was attached to the village of Petrishchevo. Since 1892, the parish has become independent again. According to the staff, the clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist. Their maintenance is ensured by income from land, services, and fees, totaling up to 250 rubles. The houses for the priest and psalmist are public, and the society allocated 200 rubles for their repair.

The church has 1 dessiatina of estate land and 35 dessiatinas of arable land, of which 9 dessiatinas are unsuitable for cultivation. There is a plan and boundary book for the land. The parish includes only the village of Slavitsino, which has 322 men and 348 women, all Orthodox, according to the clerical records. A church-parish school operates in the village.
